Novis Iris is a coloured PVB interlayer film for laminated safety glass. The colour sits inside the laminate rather than on its surface, so it cannot scratch, fade unevenly or peel. Iris delivers solar control, privacy and design intent while retaining the full safety performance of a PVB laminate.

Overview
Colour specified in the laminate, not applied to it.
Coloured glass achieved with a tinted interlayer behaves differently from surface-applied film. The colour is sealed between the plies, protected from abrasion, cleaning chemicals and UV degradation, and it lasts as long as the glass does.
The specification that matters on a facade project is batch-to-batch colour consistency. A facade is assembled over months from multiple production lots, and a shade drift that looks trivial on a sample becomes obvious across an elevation. Iris is supplied with lot colour data so a project can be matched across deliveries.
Iris also carries the structural and safety properties of the Aura base: fragment retention after breakage, UV blocking and acoustic damping.
Colour inside the laminate
Sealed between the glass plies, so it cannot be scratched off, cleaned off, or weathered unevenly the way a surface-applied film can.
Batch colour matching
Lot colour data supplied with each consignment so a facade assembled over multiple deliveries holds a single shade across the elevation.
Solar and privacy control
Visible light transmission selected by shade, giving glare and heat control without a separate coating or an applied tint.
Full safety performance
Post-breakage fragment retention and UV blocking are unchanged from the clear grade.

Novis Iris FAQs
How is coloured PVB different from tinted glass or applied window film?
Tinted glass carries colour in the glass melt, which limits shade choice and requires a full production run per colour. Applied film sits on the surface where it can scratch, peel and weather. Coloured PVB puts the colour inside the laminate — wide shade freedom, sealed against damage, and lasting as long as the glass.
Will the colour fade over time?
The interlayer is protected from direct UV by the outer glass ply and by PVB's own UV absorption, which is why interlayer colour holds far better than surface-applied tint. Lightfastness data per shade is supplied with the specification.
Can Novis Iris match a specific project colour?
Custom shades are possible subject to minimum quantity. Matching works best against a physical reference laminated to the actual glass build-up, since the glass substrate and total thickness both shift the perceived shade.
Can coloured and clear interlayers be combined in one laminate?
Yes. Multi-ply build-ups routinely combine clear and coloured plies to reach a target transmission or structural thickness. Combining plies also allows intermediate shades without a custom production run.
