Protection Films

Novis Luma

Black & White ACP Panel Protection Film

Novis Luma is a UV-stabilised black and white polyethylene protection film for aluminium composite panels. Applied at panel production, it protects the coated surface through fabrication, transport and facade installation — including outdoor exposure on site — and removes cleanly after the building is closed.

Overview

Built for the months a panel spends outdoors.

ACP protection film has a harder job than indoor fabrication film. The panel is cut, routed, folded and installed, then sits on a facade in direct sunlight until the building is finished. That can be months.

Ordinary polyethylene fails that exposure. UV embrittles the film so it tears into strips instead of peeling, and it drives the adhesive into the coating so that what remains has to be scraped or solvent-cleaned off a finish that is now part of a completed facade.

Luma is UV-stabilised and specified around removal after weathering. The black-and-white construction reflects heat and makes protected panels identifiable across a site.

UV-stabilised for outdoor service

Resists the embrittlement that makes ordinary PE tear into strips instead of peeling after sun exposure.

Clean removal after weathering

Specified around peel behaviour at the end of outdoor service life, when removal actually happens, not at day one.

Survives routing and folding

Holds through panel cutting, routing and tray folding without lifting along the groove or the formed edge.

Heat-reflective surface

The white outer surface reduces heat build-up on panels standing in direct sun before installation.

Questions

Novis Luma FAQs

Why does protection film tear into strips instead of peeling off?

UV embrittlement. Ordinary polyethylene loses elongation under sunlight, so instead of stretching as it peels it fractures across the width. That is why an outdoor panel film has to be UV-stabilised, and why indoor fabrication film should not be used on facade panels.

What removes adhesive residue left by an over-aged film?

Prevention rather than cure — once adhesive has aged into a PVDF coating on an installed facade, removal means solvent cleaning at height, with a real risk to the coating. Specifying a UV-stabilised film and removing it on schedule avoids the situation entirely.

Can Novis Luma be used on other coated metals?

Yes — it suits coated aluminium sheet and coil generally, not only composite panel. Confirm compatibility against the specific coating system before a full run, since coating chemistry affects both adhesion and removal.

Is Luma suitable for laser cutting?

No. For laser cutting of stainless steel, use Novis Apex, which is specified for beam reflection control and cut-edge behaviour.
